Visa Receives SAMA Approval to Process E-Commerce Payments Locally in KSA

Visa has received certification from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) for its e-commerce payment interface, allowing the Visa Acceptance Platform to process online transactions locally in KSA.

The approval enables e-commerce businesses and payment service providers to process transactions through local infrastructure while meeting Saudi regulatory requirements.

Visa deployed the Visa Acceptance Platform on local cloud infrastructure in KSA last year. The platform combines payment processing, fraud management, tokenisation and authentication through a single system.

Merchants and payment providers can use the platform to support digital payments, saved cards for future purchases, digital wallets and recurring payments.

The development follows SAMA’s launch of a new e-commerce payments interface in July 2025, designed to standardise integration between payment service providers and the mada network while improving connectivity with global payment networks.

The certification comes as KSA continues to expand its local digital payments infrastructure and increase the share of transactions processed within the Kingdom.
