Egypt’s Fund for the Care of Innovators and Geniuses has announced a future plan to identify promising ideas and help students and graduates turn them into startups.
The plan aims to strengthen links between universities, research centres and industry, while connecting education and research outputs with market and community needs. According to the announcement, it will support up to 1,000 innovative graduation projects.
The programme will bring together employment and entrepreneurship centres, technology transfer units, business incubators, and innovation and entrepreneurship clubs. These components will cover idea discovery, skills development, mentoring, technology development, incubation and links to employment and industrial collaboration.
The fund said the plan includes the “Ehna Same3ak” initiative for identifying ideas, as well as university hackathons linked to national and industrial challenges. It will also support prototype development, testing and access to open laboratories, helping promising concepts move toward practical applications, industry use or startup formation.
The plan also expands the “Kun Musta’ed” initiative to prepare students and graduates for work in, and the creation and management of, startups. Training will cover management, operations, finance, marketing, business development and professional skills.
A separate early-stage “founding partners” programme will connect final-year students and recent graduates with research projects, technical teams and startups that need stronger commercial and administrative capabilities.
