The Alexandria Businessmen Association has joined the Egypt Cities Hackathon as a partner, taking part in the event’s Impact Edition hosted at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The association’s delegation included board member Mohamed Hanno, entrepreneurship committee chairman Dr. Walid Eid, and Dr. Ahmed Bastawy, vice chairman of the committee and chairman of ice Alex, which organised the hackathon.
The event brought together 1,100 entrepreneurs, investors, experts and representatives of institutions to turn local challenges into innovation opportunities and projects with economic and social impact.
In opening remarks, Hanno said the association views startups as a key part of the future and aims to support them by opening market access, sharing expertise and building trust. Eid said the entrepreneurship committee is working with partners to connect founders with investors, experts, universities and the business community.
Bastawy said the partnership is intended to connect startup founders with policymakers and help turn meetings into contracts, partnerships and investments serving Egypt’s governorates, according to the announcement.
The hackathon began with a Bingo Networking session designed to help participants build relationships and explore collaboration opportunities. The event was supported by Plan International Egypt through its Ready for Tomorrow project.
