Airbnb to Launch AI Travel Agent in First Half of 2027

Airbnb plans to launch its own AI travel agent for consumers in the first half of 2027, giving travelers a dedicated tool for planning trips and managing bookings.

The company said the agent will go beyond a conventional chatbot. Instead of relying mainly on text, it will generate travel-specific interfaces using components such as maps, photos, comparisons, calendars and itineraries, adapting the experience to each user’s request.

CEO Brian Chesky said Airbnb believes travel planning is different from routine tasks handled by general-purpose AI agents. Travelers often want to browse destinations, compare homes and make decisions with companions, rather than receive a single direct answer.

The agent is expected to support guests throughout their trips, including reservation changes, payment issues, refunds, rebooking and 24-hour safety support. Over time, Airbnb also expects it to cover services and experiences alongside homes and hotels.

According to the company, its experience connecting hosts and guests will inform how the agent is built. The announcement came with Airbnb’s third-quarter results, which showed revenue rising 19% to $4.87 billion. The company also raised its 2026 revenue growth forecast to the high teens.
