Pan-African innovation network AfriLabs has signed a memorandum of understanding with Algeria’s Ecosystem Network, EYCONET, to strengthen startup deal sourcing and investment access across North Africa.
The partnership will use the AfriLabs Connect Deal Room, a digital platform designed to support investment readiness and connect selected startups with investors, strategic partners and commercial opportunities.
EYCONET will act as the initiative’s local partner in Algeria, identifying, verifying and qualifying high-growth startups for inclusion in the Deal Room’s investment pipeline. According to the announcement, its local market knowledge will help improve the quality and consistency of companies entering the platform.
The collaboration aims to link Algerian and North African startups with specific funding opportunities, business partners, government bodies and potential routes into new markets, rather than focusing only on networking.
AfriLabs’ wider continental network is expected to give qualified startups greater visibility among investors and innovation organisations across Africa and internationally. Support from Algeria’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy could also provide selected startups with access to major ecosystem events, including the African Startup Conference.
EYCONET’s existing work with the Algerian Startup Fund adds another institutional link between startup sourcing, investment preparation and potential access to capital.
