Apollo Global Management is set to acquire nearly a 10% stake in Mubadala Capital, the alternative asset management arm of Abu Dhabi-based Mubadala Investment Company, deepening a partnership that has spanned 15 years.
The transaction will also see Apollo commit capital across Mubadala Capital’s investment strategies. Additional strategic investors will join as minority shareholders, with the group expected to commit a combined $5 billion at initial close.
Founded in 2011, Mubadala Capital manages more than $60 billion across five investment strategies and advises or administers over $755 billion in assets, according to the announcement. The investment is intended to help the firm broaden its investor base, expand its strategies and pursue further international opportunities.
Mubadala Investment Company will remain the majority shareholder. Mubadala Capital will continue operating independently, with its existing management team retaining authority over investment decisions and operations.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory and legal approvals.
