Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly part of a consortium seeking to buy a stake in Saudi Arabian football club Al Nassr from the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

The group also includes RedBird Capital Partners CEO Gerry Cardinale, former Al Nassr president Ibrahim Al Muhaidib, Saudi Media Company chairman Mohammed Al Khuraiji and Hozon Holding chairman and CEO Sharaf Al Hariri.

Each investor would commit at least $100 million, putting the proposed investment at about $500 million, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola. Asharq Bloomberg and other media have also reported on the talks, although no deal has been completed and the terms remain unclear.

An agreement could be reached by the end of the season, according to the reports. It would give Ronaldo a potential ownership role at the Riyadh club, where he has played since 2023.

PIF currently owns 100% of Al Nassr after the Ministry of Sport transferred the 25% stake previously held by the club’s non-profit foundation. The move is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader effort to attract private capital into its football clubs.

Ronaldo is in the final year of his contract with Al Nassr. The consortium would combine football, media and investment interests, with RedBird owning Italian club AC Milan and Al Khuraiji’s Saudi Media Company active in media and sport.
