Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has signed an MoU with Intel to train 1 million Egyptian citizens annually in artificial intelligence, safe technology use and digital trust over three years.
The programme will also prepare 1,500 certified trainers, with 500 trained each year, to deliver courses and share knowledge with local education and training institutions.
Training will begin with Intel’s “AI for Citizens” programme, which covers practical AI concepts, followed by “Digital Trust for All,” focused on safe and responsible technology use. The initiative will target children and young people, technical-school and university students, jobseekers, workers seeking new skills and government officials.
Intel and the ministry will also hold technical workshops on AI computing and infrastructure, and support leading participants in an annual AI hackathon. Selected entrants will present their work at Intel’s global AI impact festival, according to the announcement.
The agreement supports Egypt’s national AI strategy for 2025-2030, which aims to train 30,000 AI specialists and raise AI’s contribution to GDP to 7.7% by the end of the decade.
