Egypt has marked its first-ever official participation at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, showcasing a dedicated pavilion with 10 technology startups. The delegation, led by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), signals a focused effort to connect the country’s growing startup ecosystem with Asian markets.

A Strategic Push into Asian Markets
The move is part of the “Project NINJA” (Next Innovation with Japan) initiative, designed to help Egyptian startups expand internationally. The Egyptian pavilion attracted high-level attention with a visit from H.E. Ambassador Ragui ElEtreby, Egypt’s Ambassador to Japan, and Ms. Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo.
During the event, the startups are scheduled for B2B meetings and investment sessions with Japanese and international venture capital firms, aiming to establish strategic partnerships.
“Egypt’s first-ever participation with a dedicated tech startup pavilion at SusHi Tech Tokyo marks a significant step in expanding Egyptian startups’ access to Asian markets—particularly Japan, one of the world’s most advanced and high-value markets,” said Eng. Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of ITIDA. “Through this initiative, we aim to directly connect innovative Egyptian tech startups with global investors and partners, enabling them to unlock new growth opportunities.”
Meet the 10 Startups Representing Egypt
The selected companies operate across e-commerce, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, energy, and cybersecurity. The startups were chosen by a committee of ITIDA, JICA, and Japanese VC representatives based on their scalability, innovation, and alignment with the Japanese market.
The delegation includes:
- Breadfast: A quick-commerce platform for everyday essentials.
- Chefaa: An AI-powered platform connecting patients with pharmacies.
- Rology: A teleradiology platform using AI for radiology services.
- Trella: A data-driven logistics marketplace for shippers and trucks.
- NoorNation: A cleantech company for solar energy and water management in agriculture.
- SURGiA / DentaCarts: A digital platform for managing medical supply chains.
- Pharmacy Marts: A B2B platform connecting pharmacies with distributors.
- Buguard: A cybersecurity firm for advanced threat detection.
- MTOR: A digital platform for car maintenance services.
- INDOS: An AI-powered platform for optimizing manufacturing operations.
New Report Spotlights Ecosystem Growth
Coinciding with the event, Startup Genome, in collaboration with JICA and ITIDA, released the “Egypt Startup Ecosystem Report.” The report highlights significant growth, noting over 1,500 active startups and more than $2.1 billion raised in VC funding between 2020 and 2025.
The report also recorded total startup exit values reaching $7.4 billion from over 50 exits during the same period, indicating a maturing ecosystem. It points to Egypt’s strengths in deep tech, fintech, and Arabic-language AI, supported by a large pool of STEM talent.
