Meta Lets AI Agents Set Up and Manage Whatsapp Business

1 Min Read

Meta is making it possible for businesses to set up and manage WhatsApp Business messaging through AI agents, reducing the need to switch between multiple developer and business tools.

The company said its new WhatsApp Business Tools MCP server connects AI coding agents such as Claude, Cursor, Codex and ChatGPT directly to the WhatsApp Business Platform through the Model Context Protocol.

Businesses can ask an AI agent to create a WhatsApp Business account, add and verify a phone number, register for access to the Cloud API and review the relevant Terms of Service. The agent can also create or edit messaging templates, test messages and webhooks, and monitor setup issues involving payments, business verification and other requirements.

Meta said developers previously had to move between tools including the Developer Console, Business Manager, API documentation and a code editor. The new server brings much of that work into a conversational workflow.

The company is expanding its existing MCP offering, which also includes tools for managing ads and monitoring app configurations. Meta’s Social Technologies MCP can be used alongside the new server to find API endpoints, search documentation and troubleshoot errors.
