Moroccan LegalTech Charikaty Unlocks Diaspora Investment With 100% Online Company Formation

4 Min Read

Moroccan LegalTech platform Charikaty has launched a fully remote service enabling Moroccans Residing Abroad (MREs) to establish and manage a company in Morocco entirely online. The move eliminates the long-standing requirement for members of the diaspora to be physically present in the country to navigate the administrative steps of business creation.

Quick Facts

  • Targets a diaspora of over 6.5 million people.
  • Remittances from MREs reached MAD 122 billion in 2025.
  • Enables end-to-end digital company registration from anywhere.

From Red Tape to Remote Clicks

Previously, a Moroccan living abroad faced two difficult options to start a business back home: travel to Morocco to deal with notaries and government offices in person, or assign a power of attorney and contend with opaque, slow-moving paperwork.

Charikaty’s new offering digitizes the entire workflow. The platform handles everything from legal structuring and document preparation to official government registration, providing a single, transparent point of contact for founders based anywhere in the world.

Tapping Into a Key Economic Engine

The launch targets one of Morocco’s most vital economic communities. The Moroccan diaspora contributes significantly to the national economy, with remittances hitting a record MAD 122 billion in 2025. However, when these individuals sought to transition from sending funds to building businesses, they were met with persistent administrative hurdles. Charikaty’s MRE-specific solution is designed to bridge this gap, converting investment intent into registered companies.

The platform was founded by CEO Amr Mouaqit and COO Driss Sijelmassi, who drew on their own experiences with the complex process of starting a business in Morocco, a challenge that is amplified for non-residents. The MRE service includes remote identity verification, guidance on legal structures, and fully digital documentation and signatures.

“Moroccans abroad carry an enormous attachment to home, and increasingly the ambition to build there,” said Amr Mouaqit, Co-Founder & CEO of Charikaty. “For too long, geography turned that ambition into a logistical ordeal. Our promise is simple: wherever you are in the world, you should be able to start your Moroccan company from your laptop, with the same speed, transparency, and confidence as someone sitting in Casablanca.”

Riding Morocco’s Digitalization Wave

Charikaty’s launch aligns with a broader national push to attract diaspora investment and digitize public services. The initiative follows calls from King Mohammed VI to streamline administrative procedures for Moroccans abroad and complements the work of Regional Investment Centers and the government’s Maroc Digital 2030 strategy.

Beyond company formation, the platform also allows MRE clients to manage ongoing legal needs remotely, including company modifications, trademark registrations, and compliance, ensuring their businesses remain in good standing without requiring frequent travel.

Looking forward, the company plans to build partnerships with banks, consulates, and diaspora networks in Europe and North America while expanding its multilingual support.
