Paymob has raised $35M in a Pre-Series C round co-led by Mubadala and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), as the Egyptian payments infrastructure provider prepares to expand across MENA.
British International Investment, Global Ventures and DPI Ventures also participated in the round. The company said it will use the funding to scale its digital payments acceptance business and develop products for SMEs and agentic commerce.
Founded in 2015 by Islam Shawky, Alain El Hajj and Mostafa Menessy, Paymob enables businesses to accept online and offline payments, process transactions and manage finances. Its platform brings more than 60 payment methods together through a single contract, API and dashboard, according to the company.
Paymob entered the UAE in 2023 and secured a Retail Payment Services Licence from the Central Bank of the UAE in January 2025. Since then, it says it has onboarded around 20,000 merchants across its three GCC markets.
The company is now focused on expanding beyond its established markets, with upcoming priorities including SME-focused products, agentic commerce tools and broader merchant growth across the region.
