Saudi Arabia’s Ceer has unveiled its first electric vehicles, introducing the Exobot sedan and SUV as it begins building a locally developed automotive brand backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who also chairs the PIF, launched the vehicles, according to the state-run SPA news agency. He said the move supports Saudi Arabia’s efforts to develop a sustainable industrial ecosystem and make automotive manufacturing a driver of economic growth.
The Exobot models are part of Ceer’s planned portfolio of seven vehicles over the next five years. The lineup will include compact and midsize models with different propulsion systems. No pricing or commercial launch details were provided.
Ceer said its vehicles are designed and engineered in Saudi Arabia and will be manufactured at the Ceer Manufacturing Complex in King Abdullah Economic City. The company was launched by the PIF in 2022 and is a joint venture with Taiwanese contract electronics manufacturer Foxconn. BMW is providing component technology for vehicle development.
The company projects that Ceer will contribute more than SAR30 billion ($8 billion) to Saudi Arabia’s GDP and improve the country’s trade balance by more than SAR80 billion by 2034.
