Tether is expanding its real-world asset tokenization business into Saudi Arabia, beginning with institutional real estate assets through its Hadron platform.
Hadron will provide the infrastructure to issue and manage tokenized real estate assets on blockchain networks. The initiative is being developed with First Data and fintech company BKN301, according to the announcement.
The company said the model could later expand into energy, infrastructure finance and other real-world assets. The move marks a broader push by Tether beyond its core USDT stablecoin business and into the technology supporting digital financial markets.
Asset tokenization represents ownership rights or economic interests in traditional assets through digital tokens. Banks and asset managers have been exploring the technology for areas including real estate, private credit, money market funds and equities, with potential benefits such as streamlined settlement, broader access and improved capital efficiency.
Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy has supported investment in financial technology and blockchain applications across sectors. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the Kingdom offers a strong market for demonstrating Hadron’s potential.
The initiative will also test whether tokenized real estate can move beyond a promising blockchain use case and become practical institutional infrastructure. Regulatory frameworks, investor protection, proof of ownership, risk management and asset liquidity will remain important to its development.
