Zain Bahrain has deployed artificial intelligence capabilities in its live 5G radio network in partnership with Ericsson, marking what the company said is the first deployment of its kind by an operator in the region.
The deployment follows the successful evaluation of Ericsson’s AI-native Scheduler for Link Adaptation solution on Zain Bahrain’s network. The technology enables real-time network decisions based on changing demand and usage patterns, with the company reporting improvements in speed and efficiency.
According to Zain Bahrain, the system is designed to support a smoother and more resilient mobile experience for data-intensive services including video streaming, online gaming, video conferencing, social media and cloud applications.
The project forms part of Zain Bahrain’s broader AI strategy, which includes applying artificial intelligence across network operations, business functions and customer service. The company said it is now exploring additional AI-driven use cases as it works to support Bahrain’s digital transformation.
