Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance has launched a digital “New Muslim” card service to move the process of requesting to embrace Islam online.
The service automates applications from submission through approval. Once approved, the digital card is made available through the Tawakkalna app, allowing users to access and verify it electronically through integration with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, according to the ministry.
Each card includes a QR code that authorities can use to verify its authenticity and confirm that it was issued by the ministry. The project is also intended to improve data quality and produce more accurate reports and statistics for planning and decision-making.
The launch was announced by Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, as part of efforts to expand digital government services.
