US-based fintech infrastructure firm Alpaca has successfully closed a $150 million Series D funding round. The investment was led by Drive Capital and is aimed at scaling the company’s brokerage and investment API infrastructure on a global scale.

Strategic Global Investment

The funding round saw significant participation from prominent global financial institutions, including Citadel Securities, Opera Tech Ventures (BNP Paribas’ VC arm), MUFG Innovation Partners, DRW Venture Capital, and Kraken. Additional investors included Endeavor Catalyst, Flat Capital, chaired by Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski, and an angel investment from Revolut CTO Vlad Yatsenko, underscoring strong confidence in Alpaca’s mission to democratize global access to financial markets.

MENA’s Growing Role in Global Fintech

Notably, the round featured strategic investments from the Middle East, with Oman’s Bank Muscat and Saudi Arabia’s Derayah Financial participating. This move signals a growing trend of MENA-based financial powerhouses backing key global technology providers. Alpaca’s focus on enabling Shariah-compliant investing infrastructure further highlights its commitment to the region.

“We’re proud to contribute to Saudi Vision 2030 by building the global standard for brokerage infrastructure, including infrastructure that enables Shariah-compliant investing, empowering partners to build financial services that align with Islamic law,” said Yoshi Yokokawa, Co-Founder and CEO of Alpaca. “This raise gives us the fuel we need to continue delivering infrastructure that serves our global enterprise partners and active traders.”

Future Growth and Expansion

With the new capital, Alpaca plans to significantly enhance its global investment infrastructure. Key initiatives include expanding its asset offerings, establishing a local presence in new markets, and securing regulatory licenses in key jurisdictions. The company will also focus on advancing its institutional-grade trading capabilities, enhancing cybersecurity and platform resilience, and bridging traditional and on-chain financial ecosystems.
