Moroccan–Senegalese mobility startup Weego has successfully raised 1.1 million USD in a new funding round. The investment was led by the early-stage venture capital firm Azur Innovation Fund and is earmarked to scale the company’s integrated mobility solutions across Morocco and the wider African continent.
An Integrated Approach to Urban Mobility
Founded in 2020 by Saad Jittou and Mor Niane, Weego operates a Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) application that consolidates a city’s various transport options into a single, user-friendly platform. The app allows users to access and book rides across public transit, ride-sharing services, and other transportation modes, effectively bridging the gap between public and private mobility services.
“Transportation is the primary obstacle to economic activity, and we are building the technological layer that will make infrastructure more efficient,” said Saad Jittou, Co-founder and CEO of Weego.
Targeting Corporate Transport
Beyond its consumer-facing app, Weego provides a dedicated staff transportation service for companies called WeegoLines. This B2B offering aims to deliver more effective, cost-efficient, and reliable transport for employees, helping businesses streamline their logistics and improve employee welfare.
This focus positions Weego as a digital tool integrated into urban mobility systems, adding structure and visibility to fragmented transport networks through data and coordination.
Strategic Expansion Plans
With the new capital, Weego plans to accelerate its expansion into additional Moroccan cities and strengthen its transport solutions for corporate clients. The funding will also support the scaling of its multimodal platform in preparation for entry into new markets across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, solidifying its presence in the corporate landscape.
