Jordanian edtech platform JoAcademy has acquired NoNerds, an artificial intelligence-focused education startup, in a deal valued at $140,000. The move signals a clear strategy to integrate sophisticated AI capabilities into its platform and expand personalized education services across the MENA region.
Quick Facts
- Deal Value: $140,000 acquisition
- Acquirer: JoAcademy, with over 2.1 million students
- Acquired: AI-native course platform NoNerds
A Strategic Move into AI-Powered Education
The acquisition gives JoAcademy control of NoNerds’ AI-native platform, which enables students and educators to create and sell online courses. The technology automatically analyzes educational content to generate study tools like flashcards, quizzes, learning notes, and tailored study paths.
A key feature of the NoNerds platform is its interactive lecture capability, allowing students to ask text and voice-based questions and receive answers drawn directly from the course material. Prior to the acquisition, NoNerds had built a solid user base among university students in Jordan, hosting more than 120 courses and attracting approximately 12,000 students.
Under the agreement, JoAcademy will integrate this technology into its own educational ecosystem, advancing its goal of delivering AI-driven learning solutions throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
The 19-Year-Old Founder Leading the AI Push
At the center of the deal is Mohammad Al Soufi, the 19-year-old founder and CTO of NoNerds, who will now join JoAcademy to lead its artificial intelligence initiatives. Al Soufi began his entrepreneurial journey at 14 with web design, launched a Dubai-based web development company at 16, and also founded the AI research lab Brainsless.
“Artificial intelligence is becoming a new knowledge infrastructure that is reshaping how people learn, think, and make decisions,” Al Soufi commented, noting that NoNerds was an early application of this concept in education.
Following the acquisition, Al Soufi will focus on building systems that expand human intelligence through AI, steering JoAcademy’s expansion of its regional education infrastructure.
JoAcademy’s Regional Clout and Expansion
The acquisition is a strategic bolt-on for JoAcademy, one of the largest edtech platforms in the Arab world. The company serves over 2.1 million students across Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, and Saudi Arabia, where it operates its ULA platform.
This move follows a significant capital injection in early 2025, when the company raised $28 million in a Series B funding round. The round was led by Rua Ventures and included a consortium of 16 Jordanian banks, providing JoAcademy with the resources for strategic acquisitions and technological development.
