3 Min Read

Over two decades after her memorable role as “Kenzy” in the popular 2005 Egyptian sitcom ‘Mabrouk Galak Alaq,’ Rabab Awad has resurfaced, not on the screen, but in the world of entrepreneurship. The former child actress has successfully transitioned into a business consultant, academic, and founder, carving out a new career path driven by a passion for education and corporate culture.

Quick Facts

  • Left a promising acting career by personal choice.
  • Earned a PhD in Institutional Cultures.
  • Founded her own business and marketing consultancy firm.

A Calculated Exit from the Spotlight

Awad, daughter of renowned screenwriter Ahmed Awad, explained that her departure from acting was a deliberate decision. Despite her father’s encouragement to continue a promising career, the fame and public attention that followed the sitcom’s success became a source of pressure.

She recalled the immense responsibility she felt as a public figure, noting that an artist’s influence on society is significant. This realization, coupled with a feeling of being overwhelmed by the spotlight, led her to step away from the industry after seeking guidance and personal reflection.

Pivoting to Academia and Entrepreneurship

Choosing a different path, Awad immersed herself in academia. She earned a Master’s degree in Marketing and later a PhD in Institutional Cultures. This educational foundation became the bedrock of her new career.

Today, Awad is a marketing and entrepreneurship consultant, advising companies on institutional culture transformation. In addition to founding her own private company, she also teaches business and marketing courses to both undergraduate and master’s students at two universities.

Democratizing Knowledge Through Social Media

Recently, Awad has started leveraging social media platforms to share her expertise with a broader audience. She creates and shares educational videos aimed at providing valuable business and marketing insights to individuals who may not have the financial means to afford specialized courses or consulting services.

“I hope people learn and benefit from the content I provide,” she stated, emphasizing her goal to make knowledge more accessible. While she admits to occasionally missing the creative aspects of her past life in the arts, she expresses no regrets about her decision, viewing her current work as her true calling.
