The Egyptian Exchange held a working visit in Alexandria that included discussions with 17 startups on funding options available through the capital market and ways to support business growth.
The roundtable brought together founders from the first cohort of the Venture Ready accelerator at the Alexandria Creativity Center. The program is backed by Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, developed with the German development program GIZ and delivered by Plug and Play.
Participating startups operate across areas including education technology, health technology and the wider digital economy. Discussions focused on investment readiness, governance and how fast-growing companies could eventually access the stock exchange and the small and medium-sized companies market to finance expansion.
The exchange delegation, led by Chairman Omar Radwan and Vice Chairman Mohamed Sobhy, also met with brokerage firms in Alexandria to discuss market development and operational requirements for a new trading system under preparation.
According to the announcement, the system is being designed to improve execution speed and efficiency while supporting newer financial and investment instruments. The exchange also agreed to hold workshops and testing sessions for brokerage firms to prepare their teams and systems for the next stage.
