EDGE Completes Acquisition of Brazilian Aerospace Firm AKAER

UAE-based advanced technology and defence group EDGE has completed its acquisition of Brazilian aerospace engineering company AKAER, expanding its capabilities in unmanned systems, optronics and space technologies.

The deal follows a share purchase agreement signed in July 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed. While the transaction was initially structured for EDGE to acquire 100% of AKAER, SIATT will retain a minority stake under the final structure, allowing AKAER to preserve its status as an Empresa Estratégica de Defesa, or Strategic Defence Company, in Brazil.

Founded more than 30 years ago, AKAER works across the aerospace and defence product lifecycle, from design to industrialisation. EDGE said the company’s engineering expertise will support UAV programmes and strengthen capabilities in electro-optical and infrared systems, optronics and space technologies.

The two companies had already worked together on unmanned systems before the acquisition. EDGE said the completed deal will deepen its industrial presence in Brazil while supporting local employment, technical expertise and strategic technology development.

For AKAER, the transaction provides access to EDGE’s international platform while maintaining its Brazilian base and defence-company designation.
