Egypt and India are exploring deeper cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital skills, cybersecurity and entrepreneurship, with a focus on attracting Indian technology investment to Egypt.
Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindi, met with India’s ambassador to Egypt, Suresh K. Reddy, to discuss expanding collaboration in outsourcing, electronics manufacturing and digital services.
The discussions build on existing memoranda of understanding covering information technology, cybersecurity, digital capacity building and training for technology and electronics professionals. Hindi said Egypt’s strategic location and large pool of young technology talent could position the country as a gateway for Indian companies seeking to expand across Africa and the Middle East.
Reddy said he was interested in encouraging Indian companies to invest in Egypt. He also noted that India is scheduled to host a global mobile phone industry conference in October and highlighted its capabilities in advanced industries, electronics and digital infrastructure.
The two sides discussed expanding partnerships between Egyptian and Indian institutions on training, knowledge transfer and advanced skills, as well as strengthening private-sector cooperation to support startups, innovation and small and medium-sized companies.
They also considered joint work in AI research and development, responsible technology use, and participation by Egyptian companies in specialized events and exhibitions in India.
