Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reported AED 5.3 billion ($1.4 billion) in revenue from its digital channels for 2025, marking a significant 20.6% increase compared to the previous year. The figure underscores the successful city-wide shift to a digitally-native public service model, built on over 628 million transactions completed across its digital ecosystem.

Quick Facts

  • AED 5.3 billion digital revenue generated in 2025
  • 20.6% year-on-year revenue growth
  • 96% digital channel adoption rate across users

A Story of Mass Digital Adoption

The impressive revenue figure is underpinned by deep user engagement. The RTA processed over 628 million digital transactions in 2025, a 13% rise from 2024, across 105 services. With a digital adoption rate of 96% and a customer happiness score of 98%, Dubai residents have overwhelmingly embraced digital channels as the primary method for transport-related services.

This performance secured the RTA a Level 5 rating on the Government of Dubai’s Digital Maturity Index, the highest level achieved across the public sector, cementing its position as a leader in government digital transformation.

RTA Dubai App Drives Growth

A key driver of this success is the RTA Dubai app, which surpassed 1.2 million active users in 2025. App usage soared to 68 million visits, a staggering 144% increase from 2024. Transactions through the smart app accounted for over a quarter of all service interactions, reflecting a 40% year-on-year jump.

The authority also launched 18 new services through the app, which won the “Best Application of Tech – Public Sector” award at the Global Business Tech Awards.

AI and Automation at the Core

The RTA is expanding its use of AI to enhance service delivery. Its virtual assistant, Mahboub, now handles 32 interactive services, contributing to a 20.6% increase in its transaction volume. A new service, Madinati, which leverages computer vision and generative AI, was also launched via Mahboub on WhatsApp.

Physical touchpoints are also getting smarter. The authority’s smart kiosks processed over one million transactions for the first time, generating more than AED 425 million in revenue.

Integrating a Unified Government Ecosystem

The next phase of the RTA’s strategy focuses on deeper integration with Dubai’s shared government digital platforms, including Dubai Now, Invest in Dubai, and S’hail. This aligns with the emirate’s connected “one-government” model, aiming to provide a unified user experience across all public services.

Building on its AI Strategy 2030, the authority plans to expand its use of emerging technologies to further optimize service design and delivery, supported by a Big Data Platform that already manages 670 terabytes of data.
