Egypt Targets 800,000 in Major Tech Training Push to Capture Global Offshoring Demand

3 Min Read

Egypt is launching a massive expansion of its national technology training initiatives, aiming to skill approximately 800,000 individuals this year alone. The strategy is designed to capitalize on the country’s large youth population and solidify its position as a key talent hub for the global IT offshoring market.

Quick Facts

  • Targeting 800,000 individuals for ICT training this year.
  • Aiming for $6 billion in offshoring exports by 2026.
  • Expanding summer training program to 10,000 university students.

Building a National Talent Pipeline

The Egyptian government, through its Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), is coordinating a multi-layered talent development strategy. This effort is spearheaded by institutions like the Information Technology Institute (ITI) and the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) driving industry-focused programs.

A core component is the MCIT’s Digital Egypt Generations (DEG) initiative, a fully funded program that builds digital skills across all educational levels. This is complemented by ITIDA’s targeted models, including a “Train to Hire” program developed with multinational tech firms to ensure training directly fills corporate vacancies, and the ITIDA GIGS platform, which helps young professionals access the global freelance economy.

Scaling Skills for Global Enterprise Needs

To meet the specific demands of international companies, ITIDA is significantly expanding its summer training program for university students to 10,000 participants. The 120-hour curriculum is structured to deliver practical skills in high-growth sectors required by global enterprises.

The training focuses on future-proof fields, including:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Data Science
  • Cybersecurity & Cloud Computing
  • Software Development & Digital Design
  • Electronics & Digital Marketing

The program also integrates training for internationally recognized corporate certifications, ensuring graduates are business-ready.

Leveraging Egypt’s Demographic Advantage

This ambitious scaling effort is built on Egypt’s demographic strength. With a population over 110 million and approximately 750,000 students graduating from universities annually, the country offers one of the largest and most scalable talent pools in the EMEA region.

Inclusive talent development is also a key pillar. The ITIDA–DXC Dandelion Program, for example, focuses on empowering neurodivergent individuals with specialized digital skills, adding a unique and high-value capability to the country’s offshoring ecosystem. By aligning this vast human capital with global tech demand, Egypt aims to grow its offshoring services exports from an estimated $5.2 billion in 2025 to $6 billion in 2026.

About ITIDA

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) is the executive arm of the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). It is tasked with driving the development of Egypt’s IT industry, increasing local and international competitiveness, and positioning the country as a top-tier global hub for IT offshoring and business services.
