The Dubai-based bank has introduced new generative AI capabilities to strengthen fraud detection, improve analyst productivity and support investigative decision-making. The technology is designed to assist fraud investigators while keeping decisions under human control.
Mashreq has launched new generative AI capabilities within its fraud risk management platform in collaboration with Clari5, a Perfios company. Announced on November 3 at Mashreq’s Innovation Hub in Dubai, the launch builds on the ongoing collaboration between the two companies.
The new capabilities are designed to bring together information from different sources, accelerate fraud investigations and help analysts make better-informed decisions. The bank said the technology will support three priority areas: improving fraud detection effectiveness, increasing analyst productivity and strengthening investigative decision-making.
The companies emphasized that the technology is intended to complement the work of fraud professionals rather than automate their judgement. Clari5 said its AI can operate on-premises within a bank’s own environment, using the bank’s context while remaining auditable, explainable and under human control.
Ahmed Abdelaal, Group Chief Executive Officer at Mashreq, said the launch reflects the bank’s commitment to applying AI responsibly as financial fraud becomes more sophisticated. Rania Nerhal, the bank’s Group Chief Client Experience and Conduct Officer, added that generative AI can help teams interpret relevant information and respond to emerging risks with greater speed, consistency and precision.
Nitin Chugh, Managing Director and Group CEO of Perfios, said the collaboration demonstrates how generative AI can help banks manage the growing complexity of financial crime by accelerating investigations and supporting better-informed decisions.
