Balancing Growth with Architectural Identity

A key discussion at the summit addressed the challenge of expanding Morocco’s tourism infrastructure without diluting its unique architectural heritage. Chakib Benabdellah, President of the National Council of the Order of Architects of Morocco (CNOA), emphasized that local architects are central to the long-term success of tourism projects, not just contributors.

The conversation expanded to include the role of design in guest experience. Justin Wells, CEO of Wells International, discussed how purposeful design can create memorable and commercially viable projects. Osan Ghaddaf, founder of Artevo Consulting, argued that art and storytelling are now essential components of modern hospitality.

FIFA 2030 Looms as Key Investment Driver

The upcoming 2030 FIFA World Cup served as a major backdrop for the summit’s investment discussions. Simon Ardonceau, CEO of AIRE, presented a detailed overview of Morocco’s hotel industry, highlighting current investment trends and the massive demand the tournament is expected to generate.

The core of the summit involved structured face-to-face meetings connecting project developers, hotel operators, and suppliers to discuss ongoing projects and future partnerships needed to meet this demand.

Collaboration and Tech Take Center Stage

A central panel explored how Morocco can ensure its next phase of growth is efficient, sustainable, and authentic. The discussion, moderated by Alessandro Tedesco of FEBC, brought together leaders from O Capital Group, Morocco Green Building Council, MAGESPRO, and Société d’Aménagement Zenata.

Leila Haddaoui, Deputy CEO of O Tower and Director of the Tourism Division at O Capital Group, commented on the collaborative atmosphere. “This summit was really interesting. We were able to share our experiences as developers, owners, operators, designers, and other industry professionals. It was also a pleasure to share the story of the Mohammed VI Tower.”

To facilitate networking beyond the event, delegates were introduced to GBB Connect, an AI-powered platform designed to help participants identify and build business relationships.

Kenzi Hotels Founder Honored for Industry Impact

The summit recognized Abdellatif Kabbaj, Chairman, CEO, and founder of Kenzi Hotels Group, with the HIS ICON award for his significant contributions to Morocco’s hospitality industry over several decades. The session provided attendees with insights into his journey in building one of the nation’s most recognized hotel brands.

Ravi Kumar Chandran, founder of GBB, concluded that the event captured a pivotal moment for the country. “The 6th Hospitality Innovation Summit showed Morocco at an inflection point: the scale of a World Cup pipeline matched by the conviction to grow without losing its identity.”
