Response Innovation Lab (RIL), in partnership with Oxfam and the Yemen Family Care Association, delivered a three-day humanitarian innovation training for 25 Yemeni innovators in Aden.
Held from 25–27 August under Oxfam’s Humanitarian System Transformation through Local Humanitarian Leadership program, the training was part of the “Made by Yemenis” initiative. Creative Problem Solutions led field implementation.
The session followed a 16–18 August training for local partner organisations in Aden, combining support for individual innovators with efforts to strengthen innovation capacity among local humanitarian organisations.
According to RIL, the training focused on understanding problems and users, testing assumptions, using evidence and assessing the conditions required for solutions to adapt and scale. The organisation also highlighted the importance of partnerships, institutional links and continued support beyond technical training.
Average learning scores rose from 42.8% to 94.1%, with all 25 participants showing improvement, RIL said. The organisation added that locally led innovation requires not only stronger skills, but also pathways for promising ideas to generate evidence and connect with relevant systems.
