Saudi construction technology company WakeCap has acquired Singapore-based Frontline, an AI-powered construction planning software provider. The strategic move aims to expand WakeCap’s capabilities from real-time jobsite monitoring into comprehensive project planning and optimisation, creating an end-to-end intelligence platform for the construction industry.
Quick Facts
- The Deal: Saudi’s WakeCap acquires Singapore-based Frontline.
- The Goal: Integrate project planning with real-time field execution.
- Strategy: WakeCap’s second acquisition after Brazil’s Trackfy.
From On-Site Monitoring to Predictive Planning
Founded in 2017 by Hassan Albalawi and Ishita Sood, WakeCap made its name with wearable tech solutions that give contractors and project managers a real-time view of on-site operations, improving efficiency and safety. The company has tracked over 150 million labour hours across some of the region’s largest giga-projects.
The acquisition of Frontline brings a new, crucial layer to its offerings. Frontline develops AI-driven tools that allow project teams to build, simulate, and stress-test construction schedules before work begins. This helps optimise activity sequencing and resource allocation, tackling the long-standing industry problem of project plans that falter once they meet real-world conditions.
By combining WakeCap’s real-time execution data with Frontline’s predictive planning intelligence, the integrated platform will enable construction teams to quickly identify deviations from the plan, make more informed decisions, and ultimately improve project delivery timelines and costs.
Aligning with Saudi’s Giga-Project Boom
This acquisition is timed perfectly with the surge in regional infrastructure investment, particularly in Saudi Arabia, which has committed nearly $1 trillion to construction and urban development projects under Vision 2030. WakeCap is already active on major sites including Aramco, NEOM, Qiddiya, and King Salman Park.
By integrating Frontline’s technology, WakeCap strengthens its position to service these complex, large-scale projects, offering a solution that addresses challenges across the full project lifecycle—from the initial plan to final execution.
A Continuous Intelligence Loop for Construction
Leaders from both companies emphasised the goal of closing the gap between planning and on-site reality.
“Construction’s hardest problem has never been a lack of data. It’s the drift between the plan and what happens on site,” commented Dr. Hassan Albalawi, Co-Founder and CEO of WakeCap. “With Frontline, we turn project controls from reactive to predictive, and on the world’s most complex projects, that difference is measured in months and millions.”
Luis Martinez, CEO of Frontline, shared a similar vision for the combined entity. “Construction has long suffered from a disconnect between planning and execution; projects are won on one set of assumptions and delivered on another. Frontline was built to close that gap through AI-driven planning intelligence, and WakeCap has been doing the same on the jobsite through real-time data and worker-first technology.”
He added, “Together, we are creating something the industry has never had before: a continuous intelligence loop from the planning table all the way to the last worker on site.”
