The 24th edition of Buildex, Syria’s flagship exhibition for construction and building materials, has launched in Damascus, attracting significant international participation. The event is being positioned by officials as a key indicator of growing investor confidence in the country’s reconstruction and urban development sectors.

A Bellwether for Reconstruction
Held at the Damascus Fairgrounds, the four-day event is seen as a critical platform for Syria’s post-conflict recovery phase. Ali al-Hamad, Public Relations Director at the Syrian Ministry of Local Administration and Environment, stated that the exhibition sends an important institutional message that the construction sector is a fundamental pillar in the country’s early recovery and rebuilding efforts.
“The wide participation reflects a real growth in confidence in the future of urban investment in Syria,” al-Hamad told SANA news agency. He noted that the international investment community sees promising opportunities in the Syrian construction sector, which the ministry aims to leverage to attract investments for local infrastructure development.
A Hub for SMEs and Diverse Industries
The exhibition provides a crucial opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to showcase their products and services to a wide range of local and international investors and partners. According to al-Hamad, supporting SMEs is a national priority, as they are essential for infrastructure projects at the municipal level.
The event features a broad spectrum of sectors. Key areas include building materials, alternative energy, electricity, and lighting. Other prominent sectors are paints, insulation materials, HVAC equipment, elevators, ceramics, and sanitation fixtures. The exhibition also includes companies specializing in water technology, environmental sustainability, real estate development, and heavy machinery, alongside banking institutions and security system providers.
