Damanhour University’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center has partnered with private sector innovation hub ICEAlex to cultivate green entrepreneurship among its students. The collaboration was highlighted during a recent workshop titled “Green Innovation and Investment in Sustainable Green Projects,” aimed at empowering the next generation of founders to build environmentally-conscious businesses in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
Cultivating A Sustainable Mindset
Dr. Inas Ibrahim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development at Damanhour University, emphasized the critical importance of green innovation for a sustainable future. She stated that the university is committed to equipping graduates with the environmental awareness and green skills demanded by the future job market. The institution aims to encourage students to transform their innovative green ideas into viable startup projects, offering support through its business incubators and innovation center.
A Bridge Between Academia And Industry
The workshop underscored the value of collaboration between academic institutions and the private sector. Dr. Mahmoud Ghazlan, Executive Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, described the center as a platform for nurturing promising youth ideas and fostering creativity. He praised the active partnership with ICEAlex as a prime example of this synergy, providing tangible support for entrepreneurs and innovators. Dr. Ghazlan stressed that the university’s leadership is dedicated to enabling youth to participate in building a more sustainable future.
Launching The Sustainable Innovation Award
A key outcome of the collaboration is the upcoming Sustainable Innovation Award. Dr. Ahmed Bastawy, Chairman of ICEAlex, detailed the new prize, which will be implemented jointly with the university’s innovation center. The award is designed to support and encourage individuals aged 18 to 35 to develop innovative projects and entrepreneurial ideas aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. It will specifically target ventures in the environmental sector, green economy, clean technology, and resource management.
