Oman Introduces 11 New Investment Fund Categories Under Updated Regulations

1 Min Read

Oman’s Financial Services Authority has introduced new executive regulations covering 11 investment fund categories, expanding the options available to local and international investors.

The framework includes money market, real estate, debt, exchange-traded, venture capital and private equity funds, as well as endowment, sustainability and environmental funds, according to the announcement.

The changes are designed to diversify Oman’s investment market and bring its fund structure closer to international standards. They also create new channels for financing property development, infrastructure and other assets through real estate and bond funds.

The inclusion of venture capital and private equity funds could support startups and innovation by providing a clearer regulatory framework for investment. Green and social-purpose funds are also covered, opening potential access to long-term capital for renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure projects.

The regulations set controls for fund managers, custodians, distributors and investment advisers, with the stated aim of improving transparency, market integrity and investor protection.
