Bahrain’s Labour Fund Tamkeen has launched a new package of initiatives to support the training and professional development of more than 520 Bahraini doctors, nurses and students.
Developed in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Health and relevant healthcare and academic institutions, the initiatives cover medical residency programs, specialized fellowships, nursing qualifications and advanced nursing specializations.
The nursing pathways include bachelor’s degree support and specialized qualifications in areas such as midwifery, critical care, neonatal intensive care and emergency nursing. The medical programs are designed to help Bahraini doctors gain qualifications in priority specialties.
According to the announcement, the initiatives build on the outcomes of two previous cohorts and aim to prepare Bahraini professionals for specialized and advanced roles in the healthcare sector.
Tamkeen Chief Executive Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez said the programs are intended to align national skills with the needs of priority economic sectors and strengthen the competitiveness of Bahraini talent. Supreme Council of Health Secretary-General Ibrahim Ali Al Nawakhdha said the initiatives would support the continued development of healthcare professionals and the quality and sustainability of services in Bahrain.
The program forms part of Tamkeen’s 2026 priorities, which include linking skills to labour market needs and supporting initiatives with high economic impact.
