INSAF Legal Incubator, part of the UCAS Technology Incubator at the University College of Applied Sciences, held a workshop in Gaza to examine how legal documentation can help protect housing, land and property rights.

Titled “From Documentation to Justice,” the workshop was organised under the INSAF III project and reviewed the results of the Documentation Pioneers initiative. The initiative focused on recording legal damage linked to housing, land and property, helping affected people preserve evidence of their rights and pursue claims.

The event brought together the project’s steering committee, participating lawyers, and representatives from legal, community and damage-assessment organisations. Discussions covered the initiative’s results, as well as challenges faced by legal teams working in the field.

Participants also worked in groups on sustaining documentation efforts, strengthening legal capacity, improving access to affected communities and prioritising legal services. Recommendations included standardising documentation practices, connecting damage databases, improving legal referral systems, expanding legal clinics and addressing lost documents.

The workshop also highlighted the need to reach women, older people, people with disabilities and other heavily affected groups. It concluded with recognition for the lawyers who supported the field documentation initiative.
