In response to evolving regional and geopolitical developments, Dubai Customs has rolled out a series of proactive measures to ensure the smooth flow of trade and fortify supply chain resilience. The initiatives, announced by the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), are designed to support Dubai’s economic security and business continuity for critical sectors.

Quick Facts

  • “Green Corridor” launched to reroute shipments.
  • Shipment transit periods extended from 30 to 90 days.
  • Expedited customs clearance for food and pharmaceuticals.

A Proactive Playbook for Trade Stability

The new framework of operational solutions and flexible procedures aims to maintain uninterrupted cargo movement and stabilize markets, reinforcing confidence within the global business community.

His Excellency Abdulla bin Damithan, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, emphasized Dubai’s adaptive economic model. “In Dubai, rapid response has become an integral part of the government’s operating model,” he stated. “We continuously develop practical solutions and flexible initiatives that ensure the smooth movement of trade and strengthen supply chain resilience.”

Echoing this sentiment, His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, highlighted the emirate’s forward-thinking approach. “Dubai believes in acting early and staying ahead of developments. In global trade, every hour matters when it comes to market stability and business continuity,” Busenad said.

The Green Corridor and Flexible Transit

Central to the new measures is the “Green Corridor” initiative, which enables the rerouting of shipments through alternative ports and channels to ensure goods continue to flow into Dubai without interruption. “The Green Corridor not only supported cargo movement, but also strengthened business confidence and reinforced Dubai’s position as a city capable of maintaining trade continuity in a changing environment,” Busenad noted.

Additional trade facilitation measures have been introduced to enhance flexibility. The transit period for shipments has been extended from 30 to 90 days. Furthermore, shipments can now enter through the ports of Khor Fakkan and Fujairah before being transported overland under the customs guarantee system, providing crucial alternatives for logistics operators.

Engaging the Private Sector for Solutions

To ensure the new measures were practical and effective, Dubai Customs worked closely with the private sector. The organization held 12 interactive workshops and over 98 coordination meetings under the theme “Crisis Response and Solutions Innovation.”

These sessions brought together representatives from shipping and logistics companies, major clients, and commercial attachés from ten countries, including Türkiye, Germany, the UK, China, and Italy. The discussions helped address more than 83 operational challenges and development proposals, with a strong focus on customs clearance and shipping costs. Many recommendations from these meetings were rapidly implemented to improve operational efficiency across Dubai’s trade ecosystem.
