Egypt Expects Around 30 New Investment Funds Within Two Months

Egypt is preparing for the launch of around 30 new investment funds over the next two months, according to the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA).

The pipeline includes funds focused on metals, index tracking and fixed-income instruments. Sally George, associate chairman and head of mutual funds at the FRA, disclosed the expected launches in an interview with Zawya Arabic.

The new products could expand the investment options available to individuals and institutions as demand grows for ways to preserve purchasing power amid inflation. Investment activity in Egypt has already included real estate and metals funds.

The FRA is also preparing to introduce a short-selling mechanism. According to the announcement, the change could support the creation of new hedging funds and give asset managers more tools to develop investment products.

The expected launches would broaden access to different asset classes and strategies, while the planned regulatory changes could add further depth to Egypt’s investment fund market.
