Egypt’s Electronics Research Institute hosted the ELEVATE open innovation forum as part of its strategic partnership with Advanced Knowledge Solutions, bringing together researchers, universities, technology companies, banks and startup ecosystem stakeholders.
The forum focused on open innovation, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and digital transformation, with discussions aimed at connecting research and education with market and community needs.
Institute president Sherine Moharam said research institutions have a central role in turning scientific knowledge into practical technologies and commercially and socially valuable solutions. She also highlighted the need for closer collaboration between research centers, universities, businesses and startups.
Advanced Knowledge Solutions founder and CEO Mohamed Khalif presented a model that starts with real-world challenges and connects organisations with researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs and technology companies. The goal is to move from identifying a problem to developing, testing, deploying and scaling a solution, according to the announcement.
The event also featured Lithuania’s GovTech experience, presented by representatives of Infobalt, as a reference that could be adapted to Egypt’s local context. Sessions covered digital government, AI, startup support, funding, industry partnerships and the role of universities in turning student and research projects into viable products and ventures.
The forum concluded with a call to turn the challenges discussed into practical initiatives and build longer-term links between education, research, technology, entrepreneurship and business.
