SheEmpower has launched its first cohort of Lebanese women entrepreneurs in Beirut, opening with business and digital skills training under an EU-funded regional program.
The introductory session was held at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, the program’s Lebanese partner. Participants include women entrepreneurs and business owners working across agribusiness and other sectors.
The first stage of the program will focus on business foundations, leadership, innovation and digital skills. Participants are also expected to receive mentoring and access to trade fairs, cross-border business missions and a shared online marketplace known as the SheEmpower MEDe-Store.
SheEmpower operates through Interreg NEXT MED and has a total budget of €2.7 million, with the EU covering 89%, according to the project’s official page. The program began in December 2025 and is scheduled to run until June 2028.
Across its partner countries, the initiative aims to train 280 women-led businesses. It also plans to provide mentoring to 140 participants, e-business training to another 140, and support for 20 women launching new companies. The project includes an innovation fair and an entrepreneurship award, with a target of up to 100 new jobs across the region.
The number of businesses in the Lebanese cohort has not been disclosed.
