Mastercard, uwallet and Jordan Post Company have launched BareedPay, a co-branded card programme designed to expand access to digital payments in Jordan.

The programme targets underserved communities, small businesses and expatriates. Jordan Post will provide the service, while uwallet will power the platform and issue the card. Mastercard will provide its global payments network.

Cardholders will be able to shop online, pay government dues and settle other bills. The programme will also offer prepaid and multi-currency payment products, along with peer-to-peer and cross-border money transfers.

SMEs and merchants will receive support through the initiative. Jordan Post’s network of more than 400 branches will help distribute the card and connect more people with formal financial services, according to the announcement.

The partners said BareedPay will also support the modernisation of government payment programmes and Jordan’s broader digital transformation efforts.

“This collaboration allows us to better serve communities across Jordan and play a key role in advancing the Kingdom’s digital economy,” said H.E. Sami Al-Dawood, chairman of Jordan Post Company.

Saud Swar, Mastercard’s country manager for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan and other Levant markets, said the company works with fintech and government-backed programmes in Jordan to support payments innovation and financial inclusion.
