Saudi Arabia’s Heritage Commission has graduated the first cohort of its Heritage Business Accelerator, supporting 16 startups working across the country’s heritage and cultural sectors.
The startups span areas including pottery, archaeological mapping, heritage destinations and natural products inspired by local heritage elements, according to the announcement.
The intensive training program was designed to help entrepreneurs shape their ideas, validate them and develop stronger business models. It included workshops on market opportunities, marketing strategies, minimum viable products, commercial law, financial management, team building and pitching to investors.
The program also gave participants opportunities to build relationships with peers and investors. The commission launched the accelerator at the Biban forum to create investment opportunities in the heritage sector, support Saudi entrepreneurs and artisans, and encourage solutions to challenges facing the industry.
Jaser Alherbish, CEO of the Heritage Commission, highlighted the importance of investment in the sector and the role of entrepreneurs in its development.
The initiative is part of the commission’s broader efforts to grow heritage-related businesses, create jobs and strengthen the sector’s contribution to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives.
