The Women Entrepreneurs Unit at the Sixth of October Investors Association is exploring funding of up to EGP 150,000 per project for women-led businesses, as part of efforts to connect founders with support institutions and the industrial sector.

The funding was discussed during the unit’s second meeting, chaired by Dr. Abeer Essam and attended by representatives of Egypt’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency, October 6 University, Ahram Canadian University and several companies.

According to the announcement, entrepreneurs could also benefit from the agency’s non-financial services, including marketing, training, trade fair participation, export support, franchising and connections with suppliers.

The unit also discussed linking entrepreneurship clubs at universities in Sixth of October with women-led businesses, supporting the marketing of startup products and involving graduates of Ammar School of Applied Technology in October 6 University’s entrepreneurship club.

Other proposals included directing corporate social responsibility initiatives toward local universities, promoting a street-lighting project controlled through a mobile application, and developing solar energy graduation projects in cooperation with the October 6 City Authority.

The unit will also sponsor October 6 University’s research and entrepreneurship conference and exhibition, scheduled for October 13 and 14.
